“I love the flexibility of being able to do the workouts at the time of fitting with my schedule and the convenience of doing them in my home. I now really regret not making it a priority to attend the gym while I was living in Spokane!”

Tell us about your fitness journey, and how it lead to FGF@Home.

In my younger years I kept active all the time. As life became more hectic, I let exercise fall to the wayside. While living in Spokane, I heard about FGF and decided to check it out. I fell in love with the positive atmosphere and the go-get-it attitude of the coaches. Due to personal obligations and work hours it wasn’t the right time for me to join a gym, but I continued following FGF on social media thinking I would join again later on.

I ended up moving back to South Dakota to be closer to family and for a new job opportunity. I was thrilled when the initial FGF@Home session was announced! I signed up immediately. I love the flexibility of being able to do the workouts at the time of fitting with my schedule and the convenience of doing them in my home. I now really regret not making it a priority to attend the gym while I was living in Spokane!

What has been your greatest fitness/performance accomplishment so far, either with FGF or other?

Since participating in FGF@Home, my greatest accomplishment is being able to do push-ups! This is something I have always struggled with, but when the Pennies for Pull-Ups/Push-Ups challenge came up, I decided it would be a great time to tackle those darn things! I am so happy to be able to do “real” push-ups for the first time in my life!

What are your next health and fitness goals?

Currently, to be more consistent with my exercise routine.

Who/what inspires you to be fit?

I encourage my patients to make changes to improve their health and feel I should be setting a good example with my own actions.

Do you have a favorite and/or least favorite exercise from the @Home program?

My least favorite is jumping rope. I am not a coordinated person and have yet to make progress here.

When the Grind is kicking my butt, I’m thinking…

You got this, just do what you can!

What has been your favorite aspect of the @Home program?

The positive and encouraging vibe that is ever present with FGF. I love that it doesn’t matter your fitness level or age, there is a place for you in this program.

What are you most looking forward to in the SPRING session?

I look forward to continued progress with improving my overall health and fitness.

How has the rest of your life been influenced/impacted by Farmgirlfit?

I notice an improvement in my confidence, the way I carry myself, and an increased sense of value from investing in my own health.

Besides the FGF@Home Program, what does the rest of your life look like? Family? Work? Hobbies?

I am a Registered Dietitian and Board Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition. My days are spent providing nutrition care for veterans at the local VA hospital. I enjoy helping patients and their caregivers learn more about nutrition. It is so rewarding to help them see how even small nutrition changes can make big impacts on their overall health and wellness.

My family and friends are extremely important to me and I enjoy spending time with them when possible. I love travelling and am lucky to have friends and family to take trips with. Until a few months ago, I was the proud dog mom to my shih tzu Lola. She was by my side for 11 years and I am still adjusting to her being gone.

My happy place is:

I find joy in spending time outdoors. I truly feel at peace when I am outside, in nature, fresh air.

You might not know this about me:

I’ve completed seven half marathons.

Words that inspire me?

“There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind.” – C.S. Lewis

“Eating well isn’t about perfection. Some days, you’re going to eat too much. Some days, you’re going to eat too little. And some days, you’re going to have a piece of cake simply because the occasion calls for it. And, that’s ok. There’s room for every type of food in a balanced diet.”  Nourish RDs
